Grades will be calculated on a 90,80,70,60 scale for respective grades of A,B,C,D, or F. There will be no makeup quizzes or exams. Each student will be allowed to drop his lowest grade on one of the semiweekly quizzes, or, miss a quiz. Should you miss a class for reasons beyond your control, please give me a signed, written explanation for why you missed and what was missed on that date. Anyone caught cheating on anything will be given a zero for the first offense and dropped from the course with an "F" for a second offense. In both cases, the academic vice president will be notified, as is required by University policy. You should make every effort to attend class and will be dropped from the course for excessive absences if you accumulate 4 or more unexcused absences.

Immunology is an area of biology that has many applications to a wide range of scientific fields, such as cell biology, microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, etc. Completion of courses in these overlapping areas is not prerequisite to this class, but those who have such prior knowledge will probably have an easier time learning the immunology. The text book provides a very good overview of the discipline and will be extensively used, so you should purchase your own copy of the book if at all possible.
