This website was designed to give a brief overview of The Dead Zone, what causes it, who it effects, and what can be done to prevent it.

The dead zone is an area of oxygen depleted water in the Gulf of Mexico.  The water is so devoid of oxygen that the animals that live there die or flee the area.  This phenomenon is caused mainly by excess nitrates that are flowing into the Mississippi River.  There are many people effected by the hypoxic zone yet there is little being done about it.  Read on to find out more.
